Volunteers of any age are welcome!
When you volunteer with North Fork Senior Connections, you’re not just helping with chores—you’re strengthening the community we all share. Whether you’re a teen, a parent, or a retiree yourself, your time and energy make a real difference.
Why Volunteer?
- Join forces with your neighbors to support one another.
- Stay active—physically, mentally, and socially.
- Make a direct impact on the quality of life of local seniors.
- Learn from the wisdom and experiences of elders in our valley.
- “Pay it forward” by building the kind of community we all hope to age into.
- Explore opportunities for the whole family—volunteering can be meaningful at any age.
- See also the "Neighborly Rides" section.
Some of our most dedicated volunteers are also members—because giving and receiving are part of the same circle.
It’s easy to get started. No long-term commitment required.
We’ll match you with opportunities that fit your interests and availability.
Service Saturdays
Twice a year, in spring and fall, North Fork Senior Connections organizes Service Saturdays. Volunteers of all ages come together—sometimes alongside local service groups—to help seniors with seasonal home and yard tasks such as:
-
Installing or decommissioning swamp coolers
-
Cleaning gutters, raking leaves, and washing windows
-
Winterizing sprinkler systems
-
Stacking firewood
It’s hands-on, community-building work that leaves everyone feeling connected and uplifted. You don’t need to be a member to join—just bring your willingness to pitch in.
Call or email us (contact information below) to request help or to volunteer at our next Service Saturday in Paonia, Hotchkiss, or Crawford.
