Volunteers Serving Seniors
Time to sign up for the annual spring Community Days of Service which, this year, set for May 5 and 6 and possibly even more if we can’t get to all your requests. These events are a concentrated effort on the part of North Fork volunteers to get our senior population prepared for the coming spring and summer.
Young and old alike join forces to rake leaves, clean up garden areas, wash windows, clean gutters (one story step-ladder accessible only), and take care of other outside chores, including checking window-mounted swamp coolers.
If you’d like our assistance, please give us a call (970) 527-3482 or drop us an email (info@nfseniorconnections.org), and we’ll send out someone who can assess and prioritize the tasks. We’re trying the “two day” approach this season in the attempt to attract more help from high school students and others who might be available on either May 5 (a Friday afternoon) and/or May 6 (the traditional Saturday morning celebration).

Volunteer members benefit from:
Staying physically, mentally, and socially active.
Making a real difference in the quality of life of neighbors along with enhancing a sense of well being.
The opportunity to learn from the rich, varied experiences of elders in the community.
“Paying it forward” as you help build a community that will support all of us as we age.
Social & educational opportunities for all family members.

Senior members benefit from:
Transportation provided by screened and vetted volunteers for appointments, shopping, errands, etc.
Help with home and yard maintenance.
Tech support for computers, phones and tablets to help seniors stay connected.
Comprehensive list of providers & businesses recommended by community members.
Social & educational opportunities to help seniors remain engaged with neighbors and their community.
Service Saturdays

Twice yearly, in the spring and in the fall, North Fork Senior Connections volunteers along with service groups in the community team up to help seniors with seasonal chores such as installing or decommissioning swamp coolers, cleaning gutters, raking leaves, and washing windows. It’s a great way to connect with your community, and you do not have to be a member to join in the effort. Call or contact us now, to request service or to volunteer to help out on our Days of Service (May 5 & 6).
